Hello friends! Since I last posted, I had my second dose of the new chemo. This round my body has felt different side effects. I have experienced a weighty amount of fatigue. That is why I named this post "Sleepy." That has been the feeling most of the time lately. The day after my second treatment, I had to get fluids at the hospital because I was not eating and drinking much. I was dehydrated. Tomorrow will be my next treatment, and I feel that I will be better prepared knowing that side effects may build or change with these particular drugs.
I have met with my oncologist and surgeon on many occasions this past month. The consensus is that the cancerous lymph node under my left arm should not be surgically removed (at least for now). It is the only gage that doctors have to determine whether the chemo is shrinking or not. In other words, when scans are done, if the cancer under my arm has shrunk, we can assume/hope that it is also killing cancer cells elsewhere in my body. A lot rides on this chemotherapy being successful in my system.
Please pray for:
- the chemo to kill the cancerous cells
-fatigue and lack of energy to subside
-the Lord to be glorified in this time of suffering and for His people to be strengthened
-my Mom; my Dad; my Family
-healing from cancer
Your prayers mean EVERYTHING to me. The Lord has given me a sense of His presence, joy, and peace that cannot be described. When I was about twelve years old, our Pastor (Joe McKeever) preached through Romans 8 and encouraged the church to memorize it. I did, and it impacts my life to this day. Last week, I was reading Romans 8:31-39. It was like reading it for the first time. Bottom line of this passage: the Spirit and the Son intercede for us; God is for us; nothing can separate us from God's love. What else do we need in life? I'm smiling ear to ear. In Christ, I and all who are His, have everything we need. The world may be against us and suffering may be upon us, BUT He is good.
Grace & Peace,
Melissa
