Next Stop: Radiation

Family and Friends,

It's been a while. The last six weeks I've been recovering from surgery: a surgery that I did not expect to be so difficult. This past week, I've started to gain some strength, and I am grateful. A great part of my slow recovery is that physically I have been through a lot of chemo lately and over the past four years, a great deal of cancer related surgeries, scans, treatments, etc. So when I got the expected call from the radiation center yesterday to start treatment, I was not surprised. I just feel greatly fatigued and not ready to go through 25 treatments over the course of 5-6 weeks. So as I got ready to leave to go to the hospital this morning, I felt discouraged this morning.

But as I lay in the radiation machine this morning, the Lord comforted me with His great love and the truth that I am His daughter no matter what I face in this life. 1 John 3:1-3 says,

"See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.  Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure."

I'm so thankful for you and your love and prayers. Every morning at 10:40 (Monday through Friday), I have radiation. The Lord is good and faithful through it all.

Grace & Peace,

Melissa

Been thinking about you and wondering how you have been, so thanks for the update. Pray for you so often, probably daily. How is your mom, my sweet friend? If I can do anything for you, please let me know.
